Journeyman Crane Operator

Valard invites interested members of the 24 participating communities on the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission Project to apply for the following:

JOURNEYMAN CRANE OPERATOR

  • Perform activities in line with weight Certification
  • Have at least 5 years of operating cranes
  • Experience setting lattice powerline towers.
  • Travel and rig the crane/truck up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation), and set up the machine for the lift (i.e., make it level and stable) using blocking and leveling materials.
  • Service and operate the hoist and swing equipment used to move machinery, materials and other large objects
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections as required to insure the safe operation of crane or truck
  • Complete necessary daily documentation (e.g. truck log, crane log, etc.)
  • Perform regular maintenance of crane/truck in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations
  • Have a working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal regulations
  • Ensure equipment is loaded, rigged, hoisted, and secured properly
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner, consistent with safe operating practices
  • Able to live and work at remote locations in a camp setting
  • Class 1 is a minimum requirement
  • Able to work a minimum 20 days on with 8 days off in remote locations
  • Potential to working longer shifts may be required
  • Camp accommodations will be provided by Valard
